Aventure – Narrative

This is the story of Sam, a ninety-nine years old snake who is tired of the classic arcade world and wants to find the meaning of life.
Explore this new world with Sam and listen to his neverending thoughts on life, universe, and everything. Solve puzzles, Find the portals to secret levels, and watch out for Sam’s mood. Since a happy or dark Sam can lead to multiple different endings.
Can you find out all the possible endings to Sam’s journey?

“Sam was thinking about other creatures. What if they look different? Like round or tall? “ I can stand on my tail, I’ll be the tallest of them all.””

Role: Game Designer/ Level Designer/ Writer

For this project, I designed the concept based on the story of Sam, the snake who is now wandering freely in the outer world. I also wrote the storyline, and the scripts for the voice actor, I designed levels in Unity, including secret levels and the two endings.

Challenges:

The first challenge of this game was to create a narrative in order to relate to the character as much as possible. Although the character is a simple snake in pixel art, we needed it to have emotions and feelings through this journey. For this purpose, I added a voice-over narrator to the game. The challenge was to write scripts for different situations in the game and to determine the tone and specific emotion behind each line. Then, I had to guide the voice-over actor through the scripts and direct recordings.
Another challenge was to design the endings based on the character development throughout the game so that the endings would be more meaningful. For this purpose, I designed the endings based on the mood and emotions of the character, so there would be a darker ending for the evil snake and a happier ending for the positive snake.
